The Kai Ko Chen-Tung, Ariel Lin and Darren Wang starred film based on Giddens Ko's novel of the same name A-CHOO will have advanced screenings on July 9th. Immigrating to study in Europe last year and already retired from show business, Kate Tsui Tsz Shan's cameo in the film became a bright spot. Ko Chen-Tung said that Tsz Shan in the film played his manager, when she appeared she had a very strong presence.

Two nights ago A-CHOO held a Taiwan premiere. Ko Chen-Tung, Ariel Lin and Giddens Ko appeared at a forum. Giddens Ko mentioned that the film was completed in 2014. After all the storms he was grateful that the film was able to be released smoothly now. Ko Chen-Tung broke down and said, "I really am very tired over these few years, but I am working hard on being brave, thank you everyone." The entire audience applauded in encouragement.

Yesterday Karena Lam Ka Yun shared a photo of her husband Steve Yuen Kim Wai's birthday celebration. She carried a chocolate birthday cake and made a wish with her husband. Ka Yun said, "Director Yuen, declared legally birthday, declared legally happy, declared legally healthy. You know......I won't say anymore."

Ka Yun conceivably added some strength to promote her husband directed and she starred in new film DECLARED LEGALLY DEAD (SEI YUN MO HOR YI). Due to the pandemic this film postponed its release. Earlier after the government loosened the gathering restriction order it open officially on June 25th. Although the pressure was enormous, the story and the word of mouth drastically reduced the pandemic's effect on this film as its box office kept growing. Ka Yun and her husband's birthday wish conceivably would be big box office success for this film.

The pandemic decimated the film industry. Earlier Emperor Motion Picture and One Cool Film reached an agreement to "save the market" as they announced to produce and distribute 10 Hong Kong films over two years in hopes that "everyone would have a job". Recently both sides have already gathered their forces in a low key way, as the first shot of their collaboration BUK YUT SING FUN (COMING SOON WEDDING) will start productions within days. This movie about the modern male and female relationship would star Carlos Chan Ka Lok and Michelle Wai Sze Nga. Other actors will include Ashina Kwok Yuk Sum and Chu Pak Hong.

Lead actor Ka Lok early this year released the Lunar New Year film YOU ARE THE ONE (NGOR DIK SHUN POON NAM YAU). Despite the pandemic it still made around HK$ 6.3 million, so he was seen as the "Fortune Kid". No wonder before BUK has even begun its official shoot it has already been slated for a Year of the Ox Lunar New Year release. Ka Lok put a lot of thought into his appearance. Aside from his tan he also got a "spiky" hairstyle. What else would he have to prepare for? He said, "Holding back my laughter! Wai Sze Nga and I right now are learning to hold back our laughter during rehearsal. We even have a wager to see who would lose. The loser would have to treat the production wrap dinner."

Wai Sze Nga this time would also plan behind the scene, often involved in meetings with the team and table read. She said yesterday, "I haven't made a movie in half a year, I am particularly excited. Because this time I recommended the script to the company, I feel like I have a baby that is about to be born."

Lam Hoi Ling while on summer vacation from school has been busy with the new film SEPTET (CHUK YUN LOK DUI) and its theme song. Although it was not her first time recording a song, the chance to work with so many experienced elders was very rare. She has learned a lot and everyone has taken care of her.

The 90s sex symbol Veronica Yip Yuk Hing in 1996 wed Chinese American businessman Jeffrey Wu Siu Ming and retired. After immigrating to the U.S. she focused on her family as they had three children. The couple operated a variety of businesses like banks, supermarkets and wholesale in the U.S. The Wu Siu Ming operated supermarket chain Hong Kong Supermarket had an over 25 year history as it became New York's largest Chinese supermarket group. With an estimated worth of over HK$ 8 billion, the family of five resided in a castle mansion. However yesterday a New York property news site revealed that Wu Siu Ming filed for bankruptcy on July 8th due to inability to pay back the mortgage on three properties that were worth US$ 15.3 million. The auction of the properties were to take place on Wednesday morning but has been postponed. Wu Siu Ming still has not responded to the reports as of this writing.

Hing Hing spoke to Oriental Daily exclusively and admitted that the most important was the health of the entire family. She said that life has not changed much. "The children have their trust fund so they don't need to worry too much. Actually this application for bankruptcy isn't because of the pandemic; we got the wrong mortgage company earlier and the mortgage got beyond control! They are famous for targeting the Chinese, thinking that they aren't familiar with the laws. When you can't pay they take your property. Jeffrey of course wouldn't let them do that. He only had his mind on protecting the property and thus apply for bankruptcy. Although it would affect his reputation, what else could he do? Maybe it would sound and look bad and be very troublesome, but that's not important! (Are you upset?) NO! Life is like this, as long as it's not life and death, it's no big deal! Applying for bankruptcy restructure protection wouldn't let you with nothing, everyday life necessities, some of the income, property and cars can be exempted! The credit would certainly be impacted, for that is temporary and can be built up again. Lately many large enterprises have applied for bankruptcy restructuring. Even President Trump has gone through it several times."

Hing Hing admitted that this was an invaluable experience for the family, especially the children. "My older son is only 19, but he would follow up with a lot of the documentation and talk with the lawyers. He also helps out at the supermarkets." She admitted that the most upsetting for her husband was the issue of reputation. "Sometimes you have to let some stuff go, for example the property in Chinatown was where his family started. He didn't want to give it up, but his mood hasn't been too bad." The couple has been rumored to be in financial trouble in recent years. In 2012 when she returned to Hong Kong to make the Lunar New Year film I LOVE HONG KONG 2013, she was rumored to be making money for her husband but she denied the rumor.

The casino magnate for half a century, Stanley Ho Hung Sun passed away on May 26th at age 98. The Gambling King's funeral service would take place for three days at the Hong Kong Funeral Parlor. The first day was for family only. Yesterday the public service was held and the funeral would take place today when the Gambling King would rest eternal at the Chiu Yuen Cemetery. The Gambling King was an important figure in the world of politics and business and participated in many charity events. He sang and danced on television fund raising programs as he often showed his friendly side despite his stature and was well respected. Yesterday countless notables from politics, business, arts and entertainment world sent floral arrangement to bid the Gambling King a final farewell!

The four families of Ho arrived in the morning in groups. Around 1PM people from different walks of life came to pay their respect, including Jackie Chan, Liza Wang Ming Chuen, Jeannie Chan Ying who was rumored to have reconnected with Ho's son Arnaldo Ho, Isabella Kau Hung Ping, Patrick Tse Yin, Deborah Li and her husband Mustache Kong, May Ng Yuen Fong with her son Caspar Wu and daughter Helene, Vinci Wong Yin Chi, Kam Kwok Leung, Elaine Lok Yi Ling, Louisa Mak Ming Sze, and others, artists who sent floral arrangement included Chow Yun Fat, Miriam Yeung Chin Wa and Real Ting Chi Ko, Cherie Chung Chor Hung, Wong Cho Nam and others.

Wang Ming Chuen arrived in black alone around dusk. She was also a member of the funeral committee. Ah Jeh stayed for half a hour and spoke to the media when she left, saying that she and the Gambling King met and conversed at many charity events. They even performed a duet. The most memorable was one year at the Community Chest fund raising event when she and Mr. Ho competed on the same team. Ah Jeh praised Mr. Ho for his humor, for being a gentleman and talented in every way. Aside from achievements in his career, he also valued the education of his children. When he was young he was very handsome. She really missed her. Because of all his charity work, his passing would be a tremendous loss to everyone. As Ah Jeh spoke to the media, Jackie Chan left in a low profile manner.

Kau Hung Ping said when she left, "Today and I came to pay my respect with people of the Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Ho was one of the judge when I competed at a beauty pageant. We probably had a few exchanges, but I already forgot what they were about."

Chan Ying and TVB executive Lok Yi Ling came to bid farewell to the Gambling King but did not speak to the media. As they left reporters followed and asked if she has reconnected with Arnaldo, Chan Ying did not respond and left with Ms. Lok. Former Miss Hong Kong Mak Ming Sze also came to pay her respect.

With over 100 media members on hand to cover the event, the Ho family was very attentive to the media as reporters received food and beverage. Ho's third wife Ina Chan personally made baked goods and even expressed concern for the media over how hot the day was through her assistant; Josie Ho Chu Yi also arranged for security and assistant to distribute beverage to the media, and Sabrina Ho Chiu Ying brought Cifan (sticky rice rolls).

Each of the Ho families started to leave around 8PM. When Ho Chiu Yin and her husband Conroy Chan Tsz Chung left, they stopped to speak to the media. She expressed that she was very grateful that so many people loved Papa. Was the atmosphere sad? She said, "Everyone is OK, (take care of yourself!) Everyone please take care as well, I know my older sister is having a very hard time."

Did anyone who promised to appear in the end did not? Chiu Yi said, "Maybe they were concerned about the pandemic. (Were Andy Lau Tak Wa and Stephen Chow Sing Chi invited to attend?) You don't get to invite anyone to stuff like this, the obituary was already published, anyone who wants to come, would." A woman named Chow claimd to be the Gambling King's daughter outside the hall. Chiu Yi said that such occurrences were frequent, so much so that a story could be written from them.

The Hong Kong Live Performance and Production Industry Association organized "Live is so much better with Music Eason Chan Charity Concert" online charity concert would take place today, but the unstable weather would keep them from capturing the best sunrise effect. With the new wave of the novel coronavirus eruption, after consideration the Association announced the the originally scheduled 6AM live concert would be changed to a taped performance that would be shown during the same period today. The 5PM concert live broadcast would remain unchanged. The Association thanked Chan Yik Shun for fully cooperating with the Association's last minute changes. Eason two nights ago after the rehearsal headed to the location early in the morning for the overnight shoot.

Among the musicians who would appear at this charity concert, many have worked with Eason for years but Eason also invited some he has never worked with before like famous musician Andrew Tuason (To Chi Chi). In their conversation, Eason hoped through this charity concert to be able to salute a group of musicians. Early in the pandemic after watching Sam Hui Koon Kit's outdoor concert he was very moved. Then Aaron Kwok Fu Sing's online concerted helped dancers and film industry freelance workers. After watching these two concerts, Eason felt that maybe everyone would feel that musician's life would be easier, and everyone would overlook the difficulties that they faced during this pandemic. He and music director Carl Wong Seung Chun hoped to make this charity concert even more interesting and meaningful, thus they invited so many outstanding musicians old and new to perform together. It was also their salute to their contribution to the performance industry.

Emperor Entertainment Group chief Albert Yeung Sau Sing and Louis Koo Tin Lok's One Cool Film production would work together to produce and distribute ten Hong Kong films over two years. Under the pandemic they would assist the film and television industry that has entered the "ice age" to thaw as soon as possible. The first shot would be the Emperor produced Lunar New Year romantic comedy BUK YUT SING FUN (COMING SOON WEDDING), which start production yesterday in Chai Wan. Boss Yeung Sau Sing personally led actors Carlos Chan Ka Lok, Michelle Wai Sze Nga, Hedwig Tam Sin Yin, Ashina Kwok Yik Sum and others in a roast pig cutting ceremony for this almost HK$ 10 million film production. Morale was high among everyone.

Yeung Sau Sing revealed that the pandemic would not make him "shut off the hose" as the film would have almost HK$ 10 million in its production investment. While the entire world's climate remained depressed with too many bad news, everyone wanted to go to the movies and cheer up a little. However he admitted due to the unpredictability of the pandemic his business has suffered. The cinema business fell over 80 to 90%. Yeung Sau Sing said, "Because there is no new release, neither the U.S. nor Hong Kong had any blockbuster. (How would you react?) I have no idea, it would depend on the progress of the pandemic, the U.S. China trade war climate. Hong Kong is a lucky place though, I am not worried." He also pointed out that the second film will be an One Cool Film production and will start production in October. Each side would be responsible for 5 films. They would exchange ideas and would not mind subject conflicts. The entire production would be Hong Kong workers, shot in Hong Kong in order to create even more employment opportunities. He said that he was not sure about the number of workers who would benefit, but a large group of people would.

Speaking of Gillian Chung Yun Tung's divorce, Yeung Sau Sing who attended the wedding banquet joked, "She is pretty good, no need for concern. Right now Ah Gil, Joey (Yung Cho Yi) and Mani (Emperor executive Fok Man Hei) are in quarantine in the Mainland. Later they would have a business performance. Ah Gil and Joey are upstairs and downstairs, Mani and Joey are next door to each other but they can't see each other. Truly they are this close yet that far."

The two leads in the film Chan Ka Lok and Wai Sze Nga spoke to the press together. They would play a couple for the third time but this time they would finally have a happy ending. However they would not have any intimate scene. Wai Sze Nga revealed that in the film she would have a breakthrough performance as she would perform a pole dance in a lacy costume. The scene would be so sexy even she would not have the courage to watch. Even at home she would not be so sexy. Earlier at the rehearsal even the crew could not recognize her. For this scene she has been working out to tighten her glutes. Ka Lok said, "The director wouldn't let me visit the set, so when we officially shoot he would be able to capture my real emotions. I am very scared, it's like seeing my older sister in front of me. We are truly too familiar, like we have been dating for years and she also feels like a family member."

Wai Sze Nga immediately said, "When we work on our kiss scene, I feel like I am kissing my own arm." Would Ka Lok have to inform rumored girlfriend Shiga Lin about intimate scenes with other female artists? He said, "No, it's just a movie."

Wai Sze Nga's 4 year old niece would also perform. Actually the little girl already treated Ka Lok like her "hubby". Wai Sze Nga said, "He has to report to my niece. My niece didn't agree to perform until she heard Ka Lok would take part. Earlier when work ended she cried and wanted to keep shooting. She also said that after growing up she still wanted to make movies, because 'Hubby' is making movies." Ka Lok continued, "Two years ago all it took me was a box of cakes, we are already engaged. Her niece is very cute." Wai Sze Nga joked, "Don't let her know about any of your rumors, luckily she hasn't learned to read yet." Ka Lok was busted and immediately turned around and walked away.

The "Hong Kong Live Performance and Production Industry Association" organized "Live is so much better with Music Eason Chan Charity Concert" online charity concert took place yesterday, the goal was to help the LPPIA with assistance to industry insiders who have not worked in over half a year and had zero income. This online charity concert was divided into sunrise and sunset performances. Because Chan Yik Shun felt that sunrise and sunset were a cycle, when you could start over new and it did not have to be bad. He encouraged everyone to carry the word "believe", and believed that tomorrow will be even better!

Due to the weather and a new wave of the pandemic, in order to prevent mass gathering Eason recorded the sunrise half of the charity concert earlier and aired it as scheduled at 6AM with the sunrise. The concert took place on the Avenue of the Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui with the beautiful Victoria Harbor scenery as the backdrop. He performed with the live band and 4 background singers. Nearby joggers passed by and looked on. Although he only performed for 20 minutes, Eason sang from the pitch back background to the sky gradually brightening -- a metaphor for going out of the darkness into the light. It both had a lot of atmosphere and meaning!

Eason first performed the song WITH YOU ALWAYS, when the environment was still gloomy and dark. Then when he sang ANGEL'S PRESENT light already began to shine at the edge of the sky and Eason was finally unveiled to the audience. After singing THE GOLDEN ERA Eason greeted the audience, "Good morning everyone!" Then he continued to sing THE SUN AS USUAL RISES and PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE IN YOU to end the first half of the show. He was very into his performance of the 5 songs, often flashing smiles. When he got intense he would close his eyes. Before he left he even said, "See you later!"

Eason's second half show "Sunrise" at 5:08 PM moved to the Hong Kong Coliseum for the live broadcast. At this show he performed 7 songs but before the opening the complete version of the morning first half "Sunrise" was shown. Although this time the HK Coliseum had no audience, in a black suit with his hair slicked back Eason was already in top form with his first song, the fast song LAUGHING AT THE MISERY OF OTHERS. He was very in sync with the live band, had a lot of fun with his performance as he raised his arms and jumped a few times. After the performance even he said, "Well done!" Then he sat in a stool at the center of the stage and sang YOU HEAR ME WELL with the piano accompaniment. After the song he saluted the band. The third song he chose was UNPREVENTABLE, then he sang SUNRISE IS INFINITELY GOOD. By the second verse he could not help but broke in laughter as he sang when he missed his cue a little! When he sang the fifth song SALON he first put away his smile, closed his eyes to focus on singing. With the sixth song BACKSTAGE he started to have fun again as he went to the microphone stand to sing, waved his arms and moved his body like he was in front of an audience. "Friends in front of the screens, move with me!" Eason also said, "Isn't it strange without an audience? Although there is no applause, we applaud ourselves. I also want to take this opportunity to thank each friend who put so much thought, blood, sweat and effort into this show. Life is so hard, just so that we get to play. Despite the play state of mind you still have to seriously face everything, do more charity work, learn more beneficial things, say more beneficial words, the earth would benefit more and not be as mad at us!" When he sang the final song HAIL TO US, Eason again missed his cue and cracked up. Finally he completed this charity show at 6:04 PM.

Eason after the show spoke to the media. He admitted this charity performance was inspired by Sam Hui Koon Ki and Aaron Kwok Fu sing's charity shows. "Ah Sam was by him with a guitar, Sing Sing danced, I was so inspired that I wanted to do something for my friends. I wouldn't pay attention to the numbers raised, I just wanted it to be fun. I thought that sunrise and sunset was a cycle, tomorrow good or bad would still continue the cycle. You can start over and it doesn't have to be bad!" He also mentioned that he had to carry the word "believe" because faith was very important, not to be discouraged. This time he was able to create almost 100 employment opportunities. He was very happy to make them happen and wished that tomorrow will be even better. He joked that without working for too long anyone would feel they were useless, with work they would be useful. Did he feel he was useless? He joked, "Thankfully I was able to maintain and I didn't feel useless, because at home when the light goes out or the wall cracks I would fix it. When I have time I would drive my wife and daughter, doing what normal people would do!"

Returning to the Hong Kong Coliseum without an audience, Eason admitted that the feeling was very different. "The performance felt like a jam session but we also know that maybe several millions are watching, so during the official performance I want to be a little better. However the sound I asked for this time was great, but the sound and the visuals were international quality, breaking through the usual rule inside the industry!" As for his concert cancellations at the end of last year, Eason said that he had no plan for make up shows. Even the overseas tour in April has been completely scrapped. "Actually staying at home is pretty great, I get to take a long vacation. In addition safety and health are the most important. Now I mainly play and work out." He joked that he was in his forties before going to the gym for the first time for his year end concerts last year. "I went from really hating it to becoming addicted because I had a role model next to me (his wife). I also played ball with (Edmond) Leung Hon Man and saw how buff his arms looked. He even achieved six pack abs." Would he like to train into Leung Hon Man's shape? He showed off his muscles and joked, "No need, but right now my skin is still loose. I want it to be a little thinner. Now after exercising my back is better too!" Eason revealed that he indeed had some pressure from doing this show. One day he put on his gym shorts and prepared to play ball outside. His wife Hilary Tsui Ho Ying said to him, "You are very loose!" He immediately threw a tantrum, but his wife understood his pressure. "At the time I really was mad, but the next day I said sorry to my wife. She knew I really was under a lot of pressure!"

Eason's second half "Sunset" online charity concert took place at 5PM at the Hong Kong Coliseum. It was also the first time the HK Coliseum opened for a concert since the pandemic, thus admittance was particularly strict. Anyone before entering the venue must go through a special disinfection tunnel, then fill out a health report. Inside the venue they must wear masks and are prohibited from eating. Reporters could only see eight in a row in the press box to watch the live television broadcast.

Eason around 4PM took part in the worship ceremony backstage. He worse a deep grey tee shirt, black pants and a mask. He also waved to the fans who were waiting at the venue. He saw how strong the sun was and gestured to remind everyone to open their umbrellas for shade. Eason cut the roast pig after presenting the incense sticks. He took a piece but did not end up putting it in his mouth. His assistant gave him hand sanitizer afterward. Eason waved to everyone then returned to the venue to prepare for the show.

The 54 year old Best Actor Aaron Kwok Fu Sing yesterday worked on a movie at Central. Although rumored to be making the movie at a 70% "pandemic price", he still gave his all. In the heat he wore winer clothing for the kidnapping and chase scene.

Under the novel coronavirus the Hong Kong film industry was at almost a complete halt. However some film production companies continued to make movies during the pandemic. Reportedly in order to get through the hard times with the crew, Kwok Fu Sing chopped his own salary and made the Soi Cheang Pou Soi produced and Wong Hing Fan directed film DUEN MONG (BROKEN NET) at 70% of his rate.

The film already started production last month. The team yesterday morning around 11AM shot at Central with several actors as pedestrians. Sing Sing appeared with a mustache and glasses. In over 30 degree Celsius heat he wore winter clothing and had to carry a backpack to run around. In the story the computer programmer Sing Sing declined a hill when two men kidnapped him and forced him into a vehicle. Because of how realistic the performance was, the onlookers were wowed and cheered. Although being drenched Sing Sing still worked very hard. He went back and forth for several different angles and shots to please the director.

While not at work, Sing Sing could not stand the heat and stuck his tongue out. Several workers kept wiping away his sweat and fixing his make up. He even had someone with a handheld fan to lower his temperature. Finally he stripped down to his white tank top and showed off his healthy kirin arms. After half a hour, the team moved to another street for the shoot. Sing Sing returned to his vehicle to rest while not needed on the set. Later they went to shoot a chase scene on a bridge as he was challenged physically.

The "Directors' Succession Scheme" has earmarked HK$ 100 million to make 10 to 12 films, inviting veteran directors like Derek Yee to help new directors.

The Commerce and Economic Development Bureau announced yesterday that the Government will earmark around $260 million under the Film Development Fund (FDF) to implement five major measures to increase the number of local film productions, nurture young directors and scriptwriting talents and enhance professional training, with a view to adding value to the trade, helping the trade tide over this difficult period and re-energising Hong Kong's film industry.

"As a result of social events and the epidemic, local film production and investment have shrunk, posing acute challenges to the trade and practitioners in the past year. The Government is therefore committed to providing multi-pronged support for the trade to go through this difficult period and sustaining the success story of Hong Kong films," the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Edward Yau Tung-wah, said.

The five major measures to energise Hong Kong films are set out below:

(1) Directors' Succession Scheme: Qualified directors are invited to partner with one to two young directors to co-produce films, with earmarked funding of around $100 million to subsidise 10 to 12 local film productions. Each film will be granted a subsidy of around $9 million. The Scheme serves the purpose of encouraging directors to groom young talents, and to enhance the quality and quantity of local film productions.

(2) Relaxation of "the Film Production Financing Scheme": To increase the number of local film productions in the short term and render relief to film practitioners, the Government will increase the actual financing amount, investors will be granted priority to recover half of their investment, and disbursement will also be made earlier. The measures are expected to benefit over 10 film productions, involving government financing of $100 million.

(3) "Scriptwriting Incubation Programme": The Programme encourages current scriptwriters and would-be scriptwriters to join the profession and/or produce high-quality scripts. With earmarked funding of around HK$8 million, it is expected that around 40 quality scripts will be incubated.

(4) Sponsoring the trade to provide free short-term advanced training courses: The Federation of Hong Kong Filmmakers and the Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild have been subsidised with a total of $20 million to organise for the trade, with tuition fees exempted, "the Skills Programme for Hong Kong Filmmakers" and "the Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild's In-depth Professional Training" respectively, so as to add value to the industry.

(5) Enhancement of the "First Feature Film Initiative": Starting with the 6th edition, the maximum number of winning teams under the FFFI was increased to six. The Higher Education Institution Group's production budget has been raised to HK$ 5 million (previous cap was HK$ 3.25 million) and the Professional Group 's production budget to HK$ 8 million (previous cap was HK$ 5.5 million). The 6th "First Feature Film Initiative" saw a total of 55 applications, a rise of 80% from last year.

Yesterday the 6th First Feature Film Initiative winners are announced as well. The Higher Education Institution Group winners are Sasha Chuk Chi Ngan's FLY ME TO THE MOON (DAN YUEN YUN CHEUNG GAU), Yip Yuk-ying's THE WONDER (FUNG KING SIN) and the Veronica Bassetto (Bak Wai Kei) and Sophie Yang Fan's GAMER GIRLS (DIN GAING NUI GAI LUEN MUNG). The Professional Group winners are Ho Miu-kei's LOVE LIES (NGOR TAM DIK NA CHEUNG LUEN OI) and Ka Sing-fung's FOSTER LOVE (LAU SHUI LOK FA).

For the "Directors' Succession Scheme", Directors like Wong Kar Wai and Mabel Cheung Yue Ting would be responsible for mentoring new comers and producing movies together. Cheung Yuen Ting said that she already had a plan. "This time I would work with my student (Norris) Wong Yi Lam. Back then when all the students handed into their homework, only she made a musical and left me with a deep impression. Lately I watched her first film as a director. She even wrote the story. I thought she has a lot of potential." Wong Kar Wai revealed that he would work with THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI)'s assistant director Ronald Zee (Tsui Chi Chun). "Because I witnessed his growth. This time the government's plan will be able to enable talented young people to show their strong suit." Tsui Chi Chun admitted that he hoped to be able to show what he has learned from Wong Kar Wai.

Zeno Koo Ting Hin is a new actor but has many opportunities. He was fortunate enough to work with Best Actors and Best Actresses like Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, Alex Man Chi Leung, Nina Paw Hee Ching, Kara Wai Ying Hung in movies like I'M LIVIN' IT (MAK LO YUN) and TRACEY (CHUI SZE). His acting was eye opening. Most recently in the just ended TVB drama LIFE AFTER DEATH (NA SEH NGOR OI GOR DIK YUN), the 25 year old even played a secondary student ten years his junior without any sense of violation as he became a new favorite in the television world.

As for some saying the Zeno's image was androgynous, was he worried about being typecast and thus avoid certain roles? He said, "Performance wise I wouldn't limit myself, in TRACEY (CHUI SZE) I played a transgender person. I have also played someone with autism, victim of bullying, and others, on a certain level I hoped to be to able to come into contact with this type of characters even more. With each performance I was able to experience their lives and tell their stories, bringing more outside understanding and attention to them. Art can reflect everyone's inner world. I hope to be able from performance art to bring even more positive energy and beliefs in the world."

After the film I'M LIVIN' IT (MAK LO YUN), Zeno was fortunate enough to work with Aaron Kwok Fu Sing on another film. He said, "Actually while making I'M LIVIN' IT I really was very nervous, since it was the first time I faced so many heavyweight elders and group scenes were numerous. However I learned a lot from them, completing sensing that even though they were Best Actors and Best Actresses they would be able to put down their halo and focus on being good actors and making good movies. Their natural acting abilities led me and I was very quickly able to get into character, maintained the state of mind and condition of the role; working together for the second time, although we didn't have many scenes together he still would take the initiative and rehearse with me. I was very surprised, as I deeply sensed his professionalism."

As the third wave of the pandemic worsens in Hong Kong, the government in order to reduce the risk of spread between people announced a large scene communication pandemic prevention restriction. Among them starting today (the 15th) at midnight to the 21st, public entertainment venues including cinemas would be closed for 7 days. The first to suffer were the Korean film PENINSULA and the Taiwan film A CHOO. The films were originally scheduled for release today and tomorrow, now due to the pandemic their release has been forced to postpone; as for when they will be released, it will depend on when the government will announce the date for cinemas to re-open.

The TRAIN TO BUSAN director Yeon Sang-ho directed, Gang Dong-Won and Lee Jung-hyun starred US$ 16 million production PENINSULA originally was scheduled for release today. Last night a premiere was scheduled, but due to the pandemic its release was postponed and the event was cancelled.

Director Yeon Sang-ho expressed regret after hearing the news and thanked viewers for their support with a video. "I am very sorry to hear the news about the Hong Kong cinema closing. I can sense the disappointment of everyone. PENINSULA is a movie that must be seen in the cinema, but with the entire world was under the pandemic viewer safety should be our first concern. I hope Hong Kong viewers would pay close attention to the latest release news of PENINSULA. I lok forward to seeing everyone at the movies very soon. I wish everyone peace and good health!" Aside from this Korean film, Taiwan film A CHOO was also forced to postpone its release.

Also affected are the still in release BEYOND THE DREAM (WAN OI) and LEGALLY DECLARED DEAD (SEI YUN MO HOR YI). The Kiwi Chow Koon Wai directed, Terrance Lau Chun Him and Cecilia Choi Sze Wan starred BEYOND THE DREAM was released for 12 days (as of July 13th) and accumulated HK$ 8.15 million. Now the film has been forced to halt its release and would have to wait until the cinemas to open again, its box office might also be affected. Director Chow Koon Wai was helpless but felt that the audience's health was the most important. "Early on when the pandemic returned, the team was already mentally prepared. Public health of course trumps the film's box office. The BEYOND THE DREAM fever has been forced to a halt, although I feel helpless I think back to the beginning when the opening box office was low but rapidly rose in multiples. Today it is able to break HK$ 8 million. Actually this is worth being happy about. I thank everyone for their support and appreciation. I can only follow Heaven's arrangement and hope to see the audience again very soon." Lead actor Lau Chun Him also understood the seriousness of the pandemic required a temporary "cinema closure". He said, "I am very grateful for the audience's passion and support in the past few days. Now due to the pandemic, cinemas are required to close temporarily for 7 days. It is absolutely understandable. I hope everyone will be able to properly take care of their health, together we can get over this difficulty."

LEGALLY DECLARED DEAD's director Steve Yuen Kim Wai also agreed that under the pandemic he would have to coordinate. "Public health comes first, although I feel helpless I still need to coordinate. Cases of unknown origin are numerous, reducing mass gathering is one of the ways. Because of the pandemic, cinemas inevitably would open and close. I only hope the pandemic will be under control as soon as possible. After (Anthony Wong) Chau Sun returns to Hong Kong LEGALLY DECLARED DEAD would be able to be released again." The film opened for 19 days (as of July 13th) and accumulated HK$ 7.47 million at the box office.

In the past, the summer golden slot had many Chinese and foreign blockbuster releases. However this year due to the pandemic and the "gathering restriction order", no cinema circuit dared to schedule film releases. Even if films were scheduled the dates would only be temporary, no one dared to confirmed them. Because of the worry that even if the films were released they would have no audience, cinemas would rather arrange for old films to be released again. Movies that were running before this "closing" like PARASITE, THE TRAIN TO BUSAN (EXTENDED EDITION), AKIRA, AT THE END OF THE MATINEE were all old films. Originally scheduled for release on July 23rd, TAILGATE's distribution company said that it did not know whether it will be released as scheduled.

Due to the third wave of the pandemic, cinemas "closed" starting yesterday for 7 days until July 21st. The Kiwi Chow Koon Wai directed, Terrance Lau Chun Him and girlfriend Cecilia Choi Sze Wan starred film BEYOND THE DREAM (WAN OI) since its release on July 2nd was unaffected by the pandemic. Instead it only grew stronger. On the day before the "closing" its single day box office was HK$ 653,440. After 13 days (as of July 14th) its cumulative box office was HK$ 8,808,388. If not for the forced stop, it would have passed HK$ 10 million at the box office after the weekend! The distribution company said that after the cinemas would re-open, it hoped that the film would be able to continue its run. LEGALLY DECLARED DEAD (SEI YUN MO HOR YI) and MY PRINCE EDWARD (GUM DOH) on the day before the "closing" made around HK$ 130,000 and HK$ 50,000 at the single day box office.
