Artists Pakho Chau, Annie Liu (Lau Sum Yau), Alex Lam Tak Shun and Jacky Cai Jei two nights ago attended the premiere of their film MY WIFE IS A SUPERSTAR (NGOR LO POR HAI MING SING). Sum Yau's midriff made a rare public appearance and she said that she was not used to it. "I feel very cool, this time probably a first time. (Do you want to show off your abs?) They used to be more defined. Because lately I flew a lot, I had less time to train. Now I have to train them back. (How long?) With the right diet two weeks or so. (Do you like to dress like this?) Actually I wanted to try something new!" Hearing Sum Yau's diet, Pakho revealed that she ate very lightly. "I only see her have chicken and vegetable. At first I stole her chicken, slowly I started to ignore her and went to eat myself. (How would you lose weight?) I run!"

Sum Yau whose birthday is today received a cake for an advanced celebration two nights ago. Pakho and Tak Shun pretended to kiss her. Sum Yau said that she had the same birthday as her mother. Aside from celebrating at home with friends she even planned to enjoy cigars with her mother. "I feel I have to learn. I saw how cool people in movies look with cigars, and I hear people say that they are very fragrant!"

Artist Jacquelin Chong Si Man attended the premiere. She was reluctant to comment on Gregory Wong Chung Hiu's supposed criticism of Pakho Chau but at the same time wished Pakho well. A victim of Wong Chung Hiu's criticism, she felt that Wong Chung Hiu's constant criticism of others was a personality issue. Although she and Wong Chung Hiu no longer had any personal contact, if their company assigned them to work together she would still respect the company's arrangement. "Many people work with stranger! Many play couples but secretly don't get along. I feel work and personal stuff have to be separated."

She revealed that she was busy with a TVB series and next time she will start work on a film.

The film THE BODYGUARD (DUT GUNG YEH YEH) two nights ago held its all star special screening. His wife Joyce Godenzi (Go Lai Hung), son Timmy Hung Tin Ming, daughter in law Janet Chow Ka Wai and grandson TJ Hung Tai Yan, Yuen Wah, Andrew Lau Wai Keung and others showed their support for "Big Brother Sammo".

Three year old grandson Hung Tai Yan was energetic and cute, as he made kung fu poses on the spot. Will Big Brother teach him kung fu? Big Brother Sammo said that maybe in two years when he will be five. He did not learn until he was 9, but Big Brother said that he would not permit himself to teach him. He hoped that his brothers would so his grandson would learn to respect his master and the path. At home his grandson was only afraid of punishment from Papa. He was not afraid of Mommy at all.

Tin Ming also hoped that his son would strengthen his body and health after learning kung fu, but absolutely did not hope that he would become violent. He said, "Boys love to punch and kick, I am afraid that he will hurt his classmates at school." Ka Wai said, "I would be afraid that he will be like Tin Min and break his arms and legs. Of course it will be the best for him to be capable in both intellectual and martial arts!" Tim Ming hoped that his son would cultivate different interests and in the future he would choose for himself. He would not ask his son to make a lot of money in the future. As long as he could take care of himself he would be fine. Tin Ming said that Tai Yan is already in K1, at his school he will be able to continue until secondary school. He found this to be right up his alley because he would not have to spend energy to look for another school.

Two days ago was the 13th annivesary of the late superstar Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing's passing. The Les Fanmily two nights ago held its fan event and invited Leo Ku Kui Ke to perform many of Gor Gor's hits. At the same time, the Les Fanmily sold many memorabilia outside the venue. The most expensive was the 1:6 scale figure of Gor Gor. The price was HK$ 1,680.

The event kept showing Gor Gor's old photos and work, and old videos from a group of artists including Andy Lau Tak Wa, Carina Lau Ka Ling, Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Kelly Chen Wai Lam and Tony Leung Ka Fai from the 10th anniversary of Gor Gor's passing. Ku Kui Ke appeared and performed the hits in Gor Gor's singing voice. He admitted that he already started to listen to Gor Gor's songs in elementary school. The most memorable was the STAND UP record. Back then collecting all of the many color tapes was very hard. Gei Jai said, "Later I joined HOT GOSSIP as a host and had the chance to interview many big stars. Gor Gor was one of them. Being able to interview him was incredible. It was a great memory." Gei Jai at the same time remembered Gor Gor praised him by name on a radio interview, but he regrettably never had the chance to thank him in person. He said, "I have the chance to do something for 'Gor' fans, I wouldn't disappoint Gor Gor. I will keep making myself better."

Gor Gor's former manager Chan Suk Ping finally thanked Gei Jai on the stage and gave the first global honorary membership to him. He also made a CD of the interview in which Gor Gor praised him for him. At the same time Gei Jai wanted to release a record to salute Gor Gor on his 60th birthday. Gei Jai cried as he said, "Many years ago Gor Gor once released a record SALUTE to salute music industry singers. This year would have been Gor Gor's 60th birthday, I too want to release a record to salute him. Aside from singing Gor Gor's songs that I like, I would also let fans vote to choose songs." Finally Chan Suk Fun said that she will continue the spirit of Gor Gor's pursuit for truth, kindness and beauty. She planned to open a cafe, florist shop and start volunteer groups.

Ku Kui Ke said that the Gor Gor salute record will be released at the end of the year. Which song would she like to sing the most? He said, "It's very hard to choose, I want to sing both fast and slow songs. I really like to sing WIND CONTINUES TO BLOW and BLACK MIDNIGHT." Gei Jai said that he did not deliberately impersonate Gor Gor's singing voice, only that he grew up listening to Gor Gor's songs so he was used to his singing.

Xanadu, Q Bobo and Sam Leong Sing Chi yesterday attended their film SI SIU JEH (MISS CORPSE)'s production start ceremony in Causeway Bay. Xanadu in the film did not have any sexy performance, but when she cut the cake and opened champagne bottles she leaned over to show off her cleavage.

Xanadu played a night club dance escort and a zombie. In the film she had foul language, violent and horror scenes but she would not have any sexy image. She joked, "This film is about social phenomenon, this time the character has a lot of breakthrough. I don't have to be sexy, no intimate scene, but I have crying scene. My character would even die. The film will later be screened online. I will even sing the theme song."

Once an ATV program host, Sam not only wrote, directed and starred in the film but also invested in it. He played a mob boss in the film and had some ambiguous relationship scenes with the night club mamasan Kiwi Yuen Kit Yi. He joked that the emotional scenes were more difficult than the action scenes. "The film has a little fight scenes, I will perform them myself. The hardest is the reserved emotional scenes with Yuen Kit Yi. The difficulty is with the reserved performance, I can't give a wild performance! The film story has been in conception for a long time, I want to express Hong Kong's social problems."

Tsui Hark celebrates his Best Director award

Tsui Hark with the film THE TAKING OF TIGER MOUNTAIN won Best Director. Two nights ago Tsui Hark, Tony Leung Ka Fai, Shi Nansun and Bona film boss Yu Dong attended the celebration. Tsui Hark with the Hong Kong Film Award in hand showed off his earlier Best Director award from the 10th Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild, the 30th Golden Rooster Best Director", the 22nd Hong Kong Film Critic Society "Best Director" and other awards.

Tsui Hark won the Hong Kong Film Award Best Director for the three time. He admitted that he was very happy and touched, because the past child stars who presented the award to him were all actors and stars he liked. Thus he was very moved and excited. In addition he did not expect to win. How would he celebrate? Tsui Hak said that he came to share the cheerful atmosphere of the event. Winning the award was a joyous event, he would think about celebrating later. Some said that this year's results were unexpected. Tsui Hark answered, "The results are like this every year. Once an elder director Chang Cheh said, it can be a good thing that every award has a group of people to make decisions. It is definite." Speaking of awards for many new comers this year, would he like to work with new actors? Tsui Hark felt that the births of new actors are also a good thing. New blood was needed both on and off camera, only then would film development have a driving force. Tsui Hark turned from director to actor. His MERMAID (MEI YUN YU) performance was praised. Has he thought about winning an acting award? Tsui Hark said, "No, I never dare to watch anything with my performance in it!"

Speaking of Leung Ka Fai not winning Best Actor, did he comfort him? Tsui Hark said that every year one person would win, which was very cruel. However everyone should be happy for the winner. Those who did not win should work hard. In addition this time all five nominees were good actors. Ka Fai was also very professional and did not need to be comforted. When asked about the controversy of TEN YEARS winning Best Film, Tsui Hark said that he has not yet watched the film. He wanted to watch it before commenting.

The Hong Kong Film Award big winner PORT OF CALL (DAP HUET CHUM MUI) won 7 major awards. Two nights ago the entire team including Best Actor Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, Best Actress Jessie Li (Chun Xia), Best New Performer and Best Supporting Actor Michael Ning (Bak Ji), Best Supporting Actress Elaine Jin (Kam Yin Ling) and Best Screenplay winner Philip Yung Tsz Kwong celebrated. First time Hong Kong Film Award Best Actor Sing Sing said that he was very happy and thanked the Hong Kong Film Award jury because the nomination was already a huge encouragement for him.

Sing Sing admitted that he never thought about winning. Thus when he gave his speech he was not prepared. When Carina Lau Ka Ling announced his name was very shocked. Who did he originally think would win? Sing Sing said, "I wouldn't say any certain someone, everyone was very excellent and had a chance to win aside from me. I never thought about this, I didn't tell my family that I would attend the Hong Kong Film Award. Mommy didn't know at all. However I have a day off, I will bring the award home to show Mommy."

After the result was announced, Sing Sing's girlfriend Moka Fang immediately congratulated him online. Sing Sing graciously said that he already received it. "I even received over 200 congratulatory text messages, I am very happy. I have the support of many friends." Sing Sing gave special thanks to his manager Siu Mei, who switched him from singing to making movies. The process from negotiation, production to shooting scripts was not easy.

As for Lau Ka Ling openly "targeted" him for not putting family first and not being faithful, Sing Sing said, "In the audience I was laughing too, I knew that she was joking. Life needs experience, which when placed into acting or characters would provide realism."

Winning Best Actress with her first nomination, Chun Xia was surprisingly calm. She said, "People who received awards on the stage before crying, I don't know why when it was me I was a little stunned. I never expected it at all so I wasn't able to respond." Would she immediately ask for a raise as a Best Actress? Chun Xia admitted that she did not have that in mind. "If I ask for more money at this time, I may lose some good scripts and opportunities. I am only an ordinary actress, I would cherish everyone's recognition." On the stage Chun Xia and Bak Ji exchanged declaration of love. Chun Xia admitted that she was dating. Her boyfriend was an industry outsider.

The film became the Hong Kong Film Award big winner. Director Yung Tsz Kwong admitted that it was a dream come true. Was he disappointed about losing Best Director? He said, "I probably should say I expected that. Who wouldn't lose to Tsui Hark? I am not Wong Kar Wai, (Ann) Hui On Wa, I am a new director with only three films under my belt. Tsui Hark is my idol." Would he work on a new film with the original team? Yung said that he has discussed it with Sing Sing's manager Siu Mei, but they have not picked a subject. "Siu Mei told me to make a comedy, but I probably can't. I hope to let the actors out act each other."

LITTLE BIG MASTER (NG GOR SIU HAI DIK HAU JEUNG) did not win, but after the award ceremony Universe held an after party for the production team.

The film's five children, Chu Nui, Ka Ka, Siu Suet, Jennie and Kitty two nights ago were guest presenters. Although the five children were not nominated they cared very much about the result. When the Best Actress did not go to Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, Jennie was so heart broken that she broke into tears. The other children immediately consoled her.

Because the five children really wanted the film to win, when Best Film was presented they even sat together and prayed for LITTLE BIG MASTER to win.

When Chin Wa learned about how much the five children cared about awards and Jennie even cried over her not winning Best Actress, Chin Wa and husband Real Ting Chi Go again transformed into "headmaster" at the after party. They hug the five children and comforted them. She said, "No one should feel disappointed. This is a process. We should open our minds a little more. As long as we are in the film industry, we will still have a lot of chance to succeed and win awards in the future."

This year's Hong Kong Film Award theme is "Child Voices, Same Film" and invited past child stars Petrina Fung Bo Bo, Paul Chun Pui, John Chiang Dai Wai to present Best Director. Matthew Medvedev was only six months ago when he made ROB B HOOD (BO BUI GAI WAT). He and LOST IN TIME (MONG BUT LIU)'s Daichi Harashima were very popular online.

Already 18 year old, Daichi Harashima could not hide his excitement. Online he admitted he was a little shy from not being in large public events for too long. However he still took the chance to get photos with elders like Jacky Cheung Hok Yau, Nick Cheung Ka Fai, Carina Lau Ka Ling and Simon Yam Tat Wa. He even posted, "During rehearsal I didn't dare to great Uncle Dai Fai (Sean Lau Ching Wan). Sister (Karena Lam) Ka Yun is my goddess!"

Although Karena Lam Ka Yun did not win Best Actress, two nights ago she still attended the Emperor after party. However Jacky Cheung Hok Yau was suspected of minding losing Best Actor again and was absent. Speaking of Hok Yau stating on the stage that he minded not having an award, Ka Yun clarified, "No! Because he is very close with everyone he was able to joke around. He never said that he would attend (the post party). He keeps everything very separate, work is still work." Was she disappointed about the results? She said that she and her husband Steve Yuen Kim Fai were prepared mentally. Because it was her husband's first time, she already said that whether they won or not it would not take away the joy from their production. She also told her husband that being able to fulfill his film dream with him was already a very valuable thing." She stressed that before the race she already said Jessie Li (Chun Xia) performed very well and very naturally, which was very rare. She said, "When the Best Actress was announced, Hok Yau grabbed my hand and told me to tolerate it for a moment. It would soon pass. I felt he was very cute."

Did she already planned to lose when she received Best Dressed? Ka Yun said, "At the announcement Hok Yau and I looked at each other. Actually everyone already knew the result, this was to console us. However I was very happy because my first time I wore jeans and received the Worst Dressed. I have improved, very happy and very surprised." Even though she won she still was criticized for looking pregnant. She said that she believed in judge Kathy Chow Man Kei's taste and felt that as long as she was comfortable she was fine.

Artist Michelle Wai Si Nga two nights ago attended the Emperor Motion Pictures Awards Night After party. Introducing a Best Film nominee on the Hong Kong Film Award stage, she said, "Actually I was very nervous! (Nina) Paw Hee Ching says that the screen writer who wrote the script was even more nervous! (How do you feel about Jacky Cheung Hok Yau and Karena Lam Ka Yun not winning their categories?) I really want to hug Pastor To (Hok Yau's HEAVEN IN THE DARK character). They are Best Actor and Best Actress in my heart. During the shoot I saw their hard work on the set. They performed very well. (How do you feel about Best Actress Jessie Li (Chun Xia)?) I have been a new actress too, I understand that it's not easy for new comers to get a footing in the film industry. I am happy for her!"

TEN YEARS

Derek Yee objects to either religion or politics being in a movie
TEN YEARS producer celebrate with the team
courtesy of on.cc

The 35th Hong Kong Film Award two nights ago ended in controversy when TEN YEARS won Best Film. Film investor Peter Lam Kin Ngok said that he would respect the jury's choice but would not agree with the result. Some even felt that TEN YEARS' victory was a tragedy for the Hong Kong film industry. Because the film did not receive any other nomination and was not the highest grossing, it has been proven that it was not qualified to be Best Film but still won. It was unfair to filmmakers and politics even kidnapped professionalism. As the Hong Kong Film Award Association chair Derek Yee Tung Sing two nights ago attended the celebration he criticized this time the jury voted with emotions and was not professional enough. If the Hong Kong Film Award would become politicized again he might resign. He said, "I only hope Hong Kong film doesn't change its nature!"

Yee Tung Sing two nights ago at the Hong Kong Film Award celebration stated that when TEN YEARS was nominated the Hong Kong Film Award had no internal controversy. The entire program deliberately wanted to introduce the Hong Kong Film Award standards to young viewers who did not know. They also took the opportunity of the Hong Kong Film Award's 35th anniversary to make everyone understand this standard. Thus next year the voters will be increased to 1,200 people. Even when controversial films will be nominated they will not be interfered with.

Siu Bo said on the stage that the Hong Kong Film Award screen writers asked him should they avoid the words TEN YEARS. Siu Bo said that he was just joking, it was a type of humor. Actually this year's entire award show creativity coordinated with the social climate. Even the appearance of this film was because of the social climate. From a personal standpoint, he felt that religion and politics should not be mixed with film.

Siu Bo frowned and said, "I personally am very worried, I also know that this year will have many different genres of films. More are emotional than professional. This year TEN YEARS reached the stage. Maybe it has yet to reach the target, but the jury appreciated its courage. Perhaps you can say it is a type of encouragement. Yet many who have seen this film would feel that in terms of quality it might not be the Best Film." Yet the Hong Kong Film Award was still presented, was it a power struggle? Siu Bo admitted that this was not the first time that it happened, but the film in the past did not need to be mentioned. Otherwise some would feel that he did not agree with that film. Siu Bo continued, "I am a creator myself, I understand creators are sentimental and can very easily be affected by others emotionally. The Hong Kong Film Award standards have no problem. It's a people problem. Everyone voted with emotions. I too am afraid that if the situation persists, Hong Kong Film Award would give people the impression of being unprofessional."

Siu Bo said that earlier due to low voting rate he asked everyone to vote. Even when they did not watch the film they went to vote, which was already voting with emotions. The attitude there was already a problem. As the chair, his function was wanting improvement. Would he worry that next year's Hong Kong Film Award would be affected the same way? He said probably not, no one needed to be too pessimistic, he was certain that films like these would not have been released because of rules that prohibited affecting neighboring regions. Now who would dare to say with certainty?

When he announced the award he was accused of announcing it with a less than conducive tone. Siu Bo admitted, "I only want to make movies. If you ask me to play politics I don't have the time. If it keeps on politicizing, I will resign. You can play all you want on your own, I am fine with just making movies!" he stressed that he has always objected to injecting politics and religion into film. In the past the most political Hong Kong film was Hui On Wa's ORDINARY PEOPLE (CHIN YIN MAN YU), Hong Kong film has never excelled in this area. Siu Bo said, "I only hope Hong Kong film doesn't change its nature!" He pointed out that he would meet with Hong Kong Film Award Association members and believed that next year everyone will be more sensible. This year everyone's passionate response was unexpected, he believed it was due to the social climate. Siu Bo added that the TEN YEARS team agreed that they were lacking professionally and technically. Winning Best Film like that, if not due to emotions then what? Everyone thus should be a little more objective.

TVB was rumored to have purchased TEN YEARS' television rights. TVB's Tsang Sing Ming clarified. "TVB has not purchased TEN YEARS' television rights! The film's producer also said that the film would not be sold to TVB."

Meanwhile, TEN YEARS' producer Choi Lim Ming and Ng Ka Leung led the five directors to celebrate in Tsim Sha Tsui. The film organizer and one of the directors Ng Ka Leung said that TVB contacted them about buying the film's television rights, but another director Jevons Au Man Kit said it did not. He said that the company already has reached an agreement with another television station, so the report definitely was incorrect. As for accusations that TEN YEARS won "more for politics than technique" and "underqualified", Au Man Kit said that they were not in control of whether the film would be able to win. If some felt that they did not deserve this award, they should ask the Hong Kong Film Award jury. He also said that TEN YEARS technically would not be a great film because its production budget and expense were very low. Yet from another angle, when a low budget production was able to be released on the big screen and the audience was able to relate to it, which was already where the value of the film lay.

Jack Lee hopes to confirm the YOUNG AND DANGEROUS production by the end of the year

When Jack Lee earlier produced the film WHEN GEEK MEETS SERIAL KILLER he said that he had plans to invest HK$ 150 million on th film based on the comic book YOUNG AND DANGEROUS (GOO WAT JAI); finally the Mainland film bureau granted its approval and now the preparation for the production has begun. He even revealed that he intended for Dior Cheng Yi Kin to reprise the role of Chan Ho Nam after 16 years.

Jack Lee said aside from Ekin, in principle he would like to invite the YOUNG AND DANGEROUS original team to participate. The problem would be their schedules. "Actually this time I will work with Media Asia Films, so its artist Ekin shouldn't be a problem. Th question is whether he has room on his schedule. Because he has many movies to make in the Mainland, if he can accommodate the script will arrange for him to assist the second generation's rise. The second generation includes Chinese, Hong Kong and Taiwan artists but for now they cannot be revealed until official contract signing. Actually nothing has been set, I hope that the production will start at the end of the year."

He said that aside from YOUNG AND DANGEROUS, he is planning for some online film. Was the film adaptation of the Hong Kong comic book WHEN GEEK MEETS SERIAL KILLER a success? He admitted, "Last time before the shoot we expected to lose money because this was a very alternative work. Finally it was so successful that it won several awards and caught of many Mainland people. Without this film's subject, we would not successfully have so many Mainland people pay attention to Hong Kong comic book."

Feng Shaofeng walks the red carpet
courtesy of mingpao.com

TEN YEARS' Best Film nomination made the Hong Kong Film Awards face a lot of storm two nights ago. Finally TEN YEARS won Best Film. Derek Yee Tung Sing hinted that it was very hard to find guest presenters. Reportedly Yee Tung Sing said that because the award show had to change guest presenters. The event originally invited Mainland actor Feng Shaofeng to present Best Cinematography and Best Editing with Taiwan's Darren Wang, Hong Kong's Ng Siu Hin and Babyjohn Choi Hong Yik. However a change had to be made at the last minute. Because Ng Siu Hin was an actor in TEN YEARS, Feng Shaofeng was "notified" that he should not present an award with an actor from the film. Finally Gregory Wong Chung Hiu replaced him. Thus Feng Shaofeng came to Hong Kong to attend the Hong Kong Film Award to support his film WOLF TOTEM. Another theory was that actually Mainland and Taiwan artists were not supposed to present an award together. Thus Feng Shaofeng could only be a guest on the red carpet.

Wong Chung Hiu admitted to be a last minute replacement. "I wasn't a scheduled guest. Although when I was notified it was a little rushed, I would support the Hong Kong Film Award anyway. So it was like an alumni association. I was very happy to be invited on stage. As for who was schedule to present the award, I have no idea." Was TEN YEARS too so sensitive that some artists were not able to present an award? He said, "Was the award show politicize? Self censorship or boycotting, now even buying vegetable is political. Seemingly politics has already become Hong Kong people's everyday topic. I feel no matter what, we have to be an award show with a back bone, that Hong Kong people like and recognized and that moves everyone. First we have to do our part well. With dignity we can show some results to everyone."

Artist Gregory Wong Chung Hiu yesterday promoted a film on the radio. "Nemesis" Jacquelin Chong Si Man earlier said that he had character issues. Chung Hiu said, "I am wrong in that I speak too directly, from now on I would try to filter myself before speaking." He immediately clarified that he was not a troublemaker. "Don't say that." He denied that boss Stephen Shiu Jr. gave him a lecture, only that he did not want to have any further dispute. Was he mad that Chong Si Man said his character had issues? He stated again that he would not reply. "As soon as I speak she would respond, then she is in the news again."

Earlier he was rumored to have become a Hong Kong Film Award guest presenter at the last time because Mainland actor Feng Shaofeng was "notified" that sharing a stage with TEN YEARS actor Ng Siu Hin was inadvisable. He said, "I received the invitation on the day of the event. I don't know the reason. As a part of the film industry, I feel I have to support our own. I am already very happy to be able to be on stage. I haven't been on the big station for a very long time!" He did not understand why TEN YEARS' Best Film award would cause a stir, affecting everyone to become fearful of the term TEN YEARS. "Are we going to ban numbers from now on, then students don't have to go to math class!"

The Eric Tsang Chi Wai produced film GOOD TAKE consisted for five segments WE ARE GHOSTS (HAK GWAI), THE SOLITUDES (BUT YUT DING), GOOD TAKE, WEDDING BANQUET (HEI YIN) and CONCERTE (SHUI NAI) by five new directors Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung, Henri Wong Chi Hung, Vernie Yeung Lung Ching, Wong Chun and Wong Ching Po. Tsang Chi Wai revealed that the film will represent Macau in various film festivals. Thus most of the locations were shot in Macau. In the future part 2 will be released.

Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin performed in the dark comedy WE ARE GHOSTS. She said that the location was an abandoned home in Macau. Although she did not run into anything strange, when the director shot into the home from the outside she was alone and in front of a mirror. She did not dare to look at it directly. Ah Sa this time worked with elders like Stanley Fung Shui Fan, Lo Fun and David Lo. She said that constantly called Fung Shui Fan "Shrinking Water" but he was very cool and did not pay her any attention. However he did not yell at her either. Chi wai said that Fung Shui Fan this time had to remove his wig and false teeth and appear in his true form. However this film became another actor David Lo's final film. Chi Wai said, "In recent years I have invited him to perform in every film, mainly because I felt he had a very positive energy and liked to make fun. I remember during the shoot he wasn't very thin, only by the very late stages he was!" In Ah Sa's impression David was very funny and his joyous atmosphere would affect her.

Chi Wai has always given new directors a helping hand. This time he had to call in all the favors. He said that aside from finding actors he also had to find a boss to invest. However he was happy to run into another actors with good intention, like Wong Ching Po worked with Andy Lau Tak Wa on his very first film. Thus the most important was to have heart. Even Anthony Wong Chau Sun, Liu Kai Chi would help with micro movies and short films.

Ah Sa also said that she would like to slowly participate in behind the scene work. This time after working with Ah Po she asked him to see if they would have another chance to make a movie together. Unfortunately he said that he was very busy and turned her down. As for being turned down by a guy, Ah Sa joked, "I wasn't heart broken, I am not his cup of tea!" Then why does she not direct? Ah Sa said that although she has made a music video, she did the planning so she was not too confident. Now she had a new style romantic script under preparation, but she wanted to study first. Chi Wai joked, "Before it was CHOR GEI (CHILD PROSTITUTE) now it is GEI JAI (BROTHEL)!" Ah Sa clarified that she would like to make a movie that would at most be rated IIB. She started to put the production together and handed the story idea to screen writers to write. For now she would not personally direct. She said, "It's not like I can just put a camera there and then edit the film. I don't want to just hand in homework. I am very ambitious, when I do it it has to be the best!"

Speaking of his son Tsang Kwok Cheung's CEMENT, Chi Wai said that at first when he asked Kwok Cheung if he was interested in directing Kwok Cheung asked him if he could make anything. Chi Wai of course let him have free rein, but he did not expect such a scary movie. Chi Wai praised his son and said, "His film is viable and has style. He would be better as a director than as an actor because he had a lot of messages that he wanted to say. However my praises are useless, what he needs is the praises from the audience!" Would he advise Kwok Cheung during the shoot? Chi Wai said that he let that to people around him. Advice at work between father and son would be a little odd. Actually he was very afraid of hindering him and that commercial elements would affect his creativity. However now he would ask. Will they work together again? Chi Wai said that he has already performed in his son's directing debut. It was enough to just have a little fun, otherwise it would be quite a bother!

COLD WAR 2 (HONG JIN 2) will open this summer. The actors' costume posters also gradually appeared. Two Best Actors Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Tony Leung Ka Fai's beyond "chok" poster was even more eye catching. On the poster they each carried a gun and strode from the police emergency unit vehicle that went missing in the previous film. In the film are they friends or foes this time? Kwok Fu Sing said that working with Leung Ka Fai again after four years, they did not feel estranged at all. The rehearsals were just as fun.

The film TRIVISA (SHU DAI CHIU FUNG) two nights ago held a charity premiere. This year's Hong Kong Film Award Best Film TEN YEARS led to controversy. Johnnie To Kei Fung personally commended some young directors. Speaking of Lam Kin Ngok's comment that TEN YEARS' award was "politics kidnapping professionalism" and unfair to filmmakers, To Sir even said, "Lam Kin Ngok doesn't know how to make a movie. He spends movie to make movies." Lam Kin Ngok yesterday replied in kind to To Kei Fung's comment. "For example, when I invest in a restaurant, should the kitchen alone evaluate a dish is delicious or not?"

To Kei Fung two nights ago said that first for years he neither participated in nor discussed the Hong Kong Film Award, but this time he had to say something. "This year seems to have a lot of passion. Everyone is targeting TEN YEARS' Best Film award. I feel creativity needs freedom. It shouldn't need restriction, it is transparent. Every nation, city or even country village should have her own emotions. When the emotions are on display very realistically and move everyone, it would have a feeling of relief. If all of the emotions have been suppressed they would boil over more and more. I am saying that since the jury agrees and all the voters agree, everyone should be able to accept (the result)!"

Reporters asked if he would deny this result? He said, "I hold some young directors in high esteem. Like our TRIVISA, they have to face their rights and wrongs. Yet the success of a film and being able to catch people's attention, appreciation or awards, everyone should think about that!" He also said, "Lam Kin Ngok isn't a filmmaker. He spends money to make movies. If a film festival can truly be hijacked, then it has been hijacked for many years. After 35 years, who would dare to hijack it? Those who said it wouldn't have the guts themselves, right? In this business we have some many veteran directors and producers, who would dare to hijack it? This is impossible. If someone did, please give me a name. I haven't heard of any. Just because I don't participate it doesn't mean that I don't know, you shouldn't think I am an idiot."

Speaking of film bosses like Lam Kin Ngok and Raymond Wong Pak Ming disagreeing with TEN YEARS' Best Film qualification because the film was not nominated in any other category, To Sir said, "Ask people who made those comments about their background. Everyone please take a look, whether he is objective first? Even with such a good boss like my Lam Kin Ngok, I still would say it because with this is the dignity of film. That way they are just insulting us. Just because I don't go it doesn't mean that I don't vote."

Lam Kin Ngok responded to To Kei Fung's comment, "First I have to thank Ah To for praising me as his good boos. I too feel he is a great director. However about his comments last night, I feel, for example, if I invest in a restaurant, should the chef alone evaluate whether a dish is delicious or not? When Michelin reviews restaurant they would evaluate with different professional food critics. The most professional Hong Kong Film Critic Society chose PORT OF CALL as its Best Picture and the Film Directors' Guild chose THE TAKING OF TIGER MOUNTAIN as Best Picture. So I don't know what Ah To wants to say. Maybe he wants to tell everyone to watch the most professional TRIVISA!"

Former Hong Kong Film Award Association chair and current vice chair Gordon Chan Ka Seung was asked if the Hong Kong Film Award would have any possibility for a make up election. He said, "Unless there was a problem that didn't meet the regulation, overturning a result would not be possible." Many people said that the Best Film selection process had a problem. Some jury member might even have not seen the films. Would the Hong Kong Film Awards add some new articles to plug this loophole? He said, "I don't feel that any article could regulate that." He also said that the Hong Kong Film Awards has tried to be fair, just and accurate over the years. This year Chair Derek Yee Tung Sing also did all he could to make the Hong Kong Film Awards great. Of course, everyone could honestly reflect their own views. However instead of looking for someone to blame, everyone should accept other people's opinions more.

Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai), Gordon Lam Ka Tung and Jordan Chan Siu Chun attended the TRIVISA (SHU DAI CHIU FUNG) premiere. Lam Ka Tung pointed out that this time in the film they played robbers, but they were not killing people or setting the world on fire. The film was about the robbers' inner world. Siu Chun also said that although he played a robber he had to sing in a karaoke box while negotiating a "big deal". He was very wild and absurd, which made his performance a lot of fun. Siu Chai also said that during his performance he ran until he got nauseous. Because he was working with a new director who put several more cameras to avoid missing anything, he was asked to run like mad. He felt like he ran a marathon, but this scene was only several seconds long. He was even ridiculed as digital productions was not afraid of "burning" film. As for claims that the three lead actors did not take any salary. Ka Tung admitted that they only took symbolic lai see. He felt that money was secondary, the most important was for the audience to like the film. How much did they got? Ka Tung joked, "If you want to know you can check with my Panama company. I am just joking, I am not qualified to start a company. The salary is just a little something, the most important is to perform the characters well. I really was very high from working with new directors!"

Siu Chun received his wife Cherrie Ying Choi Yi. He said that they did not have any chance to go work, go to the movies and date before. Now they hoped to be able to live more ordinary lives, which he rather enjoyed and longed for. However he said that they had to leave their son under his mother in law's care to have a little time to date. Ding Ding joked that their son did not like Siu Chun and preferred to follow her more.
