Film industry new comers Lemon Yip Chi Yu and Brian Yuen Chung Yeung along with their boss Checkley Sin Kwok Lam two nights ago attended the Yan Chai Hospital charity ball. Lemon happily said that in the film OUR DAYS (NGOR MOON DIK 6E BAN) played the class teacher as the lead. She revealed that she had scenes with Eric Suen Yiu Wai, who played a sassy teacher. However they had no kiss scene. Did Suen Yiu Wai teach her about acting? She said, "yes, once I was nervous and he taught me how to act. Master (Sin Kwok Lam) advised me." She said that although she has studied kung fu for over a decade, this was the first time she had a fight scene. She was even bruised all over in the process and needed cover up make up the next year to be able to wear a short dress. Brian said that in the film he played a student. He stated that producer Sin Kwok Lam was very demanding, which made me very nervous.

Ai Wai, Rachel Lam Hei Tung, Pinky Cheung Man Chi, Mannyan Lam, Lawrence Chou Chun Wai and Deon Cheung Chung Chi yesterday promoted their new film LA LOL (NGOR LO POR MEI GIT FUN) in Sham Shui Po. First time lead Ai Wai performed a mock sedan door kick in to welcome his two on screen wives Rachel and Pinky. Producer Rachel broke down in tears when Ai Wai's ability of being the lead actor was questioned. Ai Wai and Pinky were moved.

Ai Wai said that he was nervous. "My feelings are mixed. This film can be said as my beginning in the film industry and maybe the end as well. If it doesn't perform well, in a way it denies all the efforts of the past 40 years. 40 years weren't easy, I am very proud of myself for never giving up. Few people have that history! The film's performance to me, the company and Rachel, who fought off all the different opinions in casting me, will be a challenge. I hope everyone will support Ai Wai ticket by ticket, so I can successfully qualify!" Rachel said, "Some after watching the movie really like it, but asks why Ai Wai? I was very heartbroken after hearing that! Some viewers feels that they didn't have spent any money to watch the support king for 40 years, why do they have to pay to watch his movie at the cinema. This is the first time he got to this spot, I hope everyone would give him a chance!"

Pinky admitted that she would support them to the end. "Rachel and I have known each other from the start. She is very talented. Although lately I have to work on a series, I asked TVB for a favor and took time off to support her completely! Ai Wai gave a lot of effort, I hope everyone would support Ai Wai. Hong Kong viewers would support domestic productions more!" Mannyan performed the film theme song UNSEEN EXISTENCE and said about her sister Rachel breaking down in front of everyone. She said, "I just saw her eyes were all red, but she instead encouraged me to concentrate on singing the song well. I know she has a lot of pressure, and she is very demanding of herself. She didn't get much sleep from such a big project."

Carina Lau Ka Ling, Cally Kwong Mei Wan and Charmaine Sheh Sze Man yesterday attended a Central restaurant opening ribbon cutting ceremony. Stating that she would like to run some interesting businesses, Ka Ling released her own fashion brand that recently has broken even. Since the company was still in its beginning stages, Ka Ling was optimistic about the Mainland's developing market in the future. However, Ka Ling admitted that her biggest interest was still acting. Thus she took three movie roles in one breath this year. One of them will be the Tsui Hark produced DETECTIVE DEE 3 (DIK YUN KIT 3), in which she will reprise her role as Wu Zetian. The role will require many hours in make up and costumes again, she joked that she expected hardship but she liked acting. It will be worth everything.

Ka Ling also was full of ideas, other than acting she even prepared to form a film company and invest in movie productions. Will her new company expect her husband Tony Leung Chiu Wai to perform? Will she as the producer suppress her husband's market rate? She said, "Of course I will have plans for him, he won't be able to turn down offers! As for salary naturally it won't be more or less, he will probably get a bonus!" Will she expect Wong Kar Wai to direct as well? She said that she will also have plans for Big Director Wong, but will she not be afraid of spending a lot of time and money? Ka Ling joked, "I will stipulate in the contract that I won't pay if the production will run over, because I won't have any money!"

Will Ka Ling set her husband's work schedule so he will be able to go home on time? Ka Ling laughed and said, "That won't be necessary, it won't matter if he goes home or not!" She admitted that the current Hong Kong films are falling behind. She as a part of the Hong Kong film industry will have to support film. Sheh Sze Man said that both her mother and brother are good cooks. She once thought about opening a supper club, but she knew that with her bold personality she would often give meals away for free. Thus she would definitely lose money in the restaurant business. Recently she and Dayo Wong Tze Wah have been working on DUNG DUK DUT GUNG (STAND UP SPECIAL AGENT), Ah Sheh said that on the first day of work she already asked Tze Wah to take her to dinner, he actually did not even have "cent" on him. Hong Kong Film Award Best Visual Effects winner Eddy Wong Wang Hin started a Chinese vampire theme first Hong Kong film created virtual reality game. Lin Ming-Chen said that normally she would play zombie video games, but after trying this one she stated, "It truly is too horrifying because the vampires are very realistic. They would surround you from everywhere, I really was scared to death!" Choi Hong Yik said, "The feeling is like returning to the set, I rather enjoy it. The only thing missing is Brother Siu Ho fighting even more vampires with me than we did in the film. The most imitate is hearing on screen Grandma Sister Yam Yam's voice. Playing a vampire in the film, Lin Ming-Chen had a scene in which she was on top of BabyJohn. Lin Ming-Chen said that she completely trusted BabyJohn. BabyJohn said that he would take his wife to see the movie. He said, "Basically I have broadcast to all my friends to tell everyone to watch it. (Aren't you afraid that your wife would be jealous of your intimate scene with the goddess class Ming-Chen?) Absolutely not, my wife and I already trust each other a lot. During the shoot we had no awkwardness because we rehearsed it before. However the rehearsal was a little awkward, Ming-Chen trusted me a lot though."

Artists Ai Wai and Rachel Lam Hei Tung yesterday promoted their new film LA LOL (NGOR LO POR MEI GIT FUN) in Sham Shui Po and gave away promotional flyers and memorabilia.

Ai Wai got a rare lead actor role in the new film, of course he asked his friends to support him. He said, "I asked some friends for their support, some of them turned around and asked me for tickets. Wouldn't that be me supporting them, not them supporting me? Today originally I wanted to sing WIDE OCEAN, EMPTY SKY, the lyrics of which went 'How many times, faced with cold eyes and ridicule, never give up my heart's ideal!' I toughed out 40 years in this business, so my endurance is decent. This time I really have to go for it once. People say after you fall you can get back up, but at my age if this time is a box office flop I might not be able to stand. I hope everyone would support it!"

Rachel stated that she would continue to support Ai Wai and promote the new film. She said, "When I was little my family was poor. I worked as a flyer distributor for money, so I am a well versed craftsman. I am all in with my support, I will use all the ways to support Ai Wai. I see actually many people realize Ai Wai and would ask him for photos. However when Ai Wai promotes on his own, some would be biased. I hope everyone would be able to buy tickets to support him!"

Eric Tsang Chi Wai two nights ago attended the 1st Malaysia Golden Global Awards with his MAD WORLD (YUT LIM MO MING) co-star Elaine Jin (Kam Yin Ling) and director Wong Chun. Chi Wai with the film won Best Actor after 25 years! Winning the Hong Kong Film Award Best Actor in 1992 with ALAN AND ERIC: BETWEEN HELLO AND GOODBYE (SEUNG SING GOO SI), he stated that he did not think that he would win before hand. He also said that this victory had one thing in common with the one 25 years ago, both came from working with new directors. "Actually I wanted him to win New Director, but instead I won!"

Leon Lai Ming's directing debut, the film WINE WAR (CHEUNG HUNG) will open in May. He worked with Zhang Hanyu and David Wang. The film poster was unveiled with the three tough guys are its selling point. Lai Ming and David Wang had an expression that was like smiling but not, with Zhang Hanyu frowning between them. Their relationships were rather intriguing. Director Lai Ming stated that in WINE WAR an image of Best Actor Zhang Hanyu that the audience has never seen before would appear. The film was shot on location in France. With lead actress Du Juan it was a treasure hunting story. In the film stills, Zhang Hanyu not only forced Lai Ming against the wall, Lai Ming also had different interaction with David Wang and Du Juan. The mishmash of interpersonal relationships made this treasure hunt operation even more mysterious.

[2017.03.08] ANDY LAU PRODUCES AND STARS IN FIND YOUR VOICE

The LITTLE BIG MASTER (NG GOR SIU HAI DIK HAU JEUNG) director Kwan Shun Fai directed, Andy Lau Tak Wa produced youth film FIND YOUR VOICE (YIT HUET HUP CHEUNG TUEN) earlier wrapped up production. The 33 students in the choir and the cast earlier attended the "teacher appreciation dinner". Because Wa Jai was still recovering at the hospital, the students performed to cheer him on! The first poster was also unveiled, finally revealing Wa Jai's conductor identity.

Playing Yim Sir in the film, Wa Ja was unable to attend the "teacher appreciation dinner" but on the poster made a strong appearance as the conductor. Wa Jai was shown from the back, his conductor gesture already gave an impression of his strength and made people look forward to his breakthrough performance in the film. Playing a conductor for the first time, Wa Jai asked a real conductor for help in order to achieve the best result and bring the character to life for the audience.

Close to Yim Sir, the students missed Wa Jai very much and took the chance at the "teacher appreciation dinner" to perform for Yim Sir a song that he was familiar with, 17 YEARS OLD. The students secretly practiced with an acoustic guitar all night then performed on the stage in an orderly fashion. They yelled, "Yim Sir, we really miss you!" They hoped the video would cheer up Yim Sr. Wa Jai after watching the video posted, "I really miss you too!"

Playing Headmaster Lo in the film, Lowell Lo Koon Ting, chancellor Hugo Goh (Ng Toi Yung) and parent Vincent Wan Yeung Ming became the students' photo opportunity targets. Lo Koon Ting shared the production experience and revealed that he was the most concerned with the crying scene. He said, "I have never cried on camera. When the director asked me to cry, I couldn't no matter how hard I tried. I even thought about my wife 'buying the farm' but I still couldn't cry. I thought, 'Now what?' Then when I took my place I was able to do it. I don't know how the tears came." Lo Lo also did not expect a second challenge. "After the first time I thought I passed, then in another 33 member choir performance I had to cry again. The director taught me to think about watching their performance on the stage as my lifelong goal. Luckily it went smoothly. I really thank the director and everyone for giving me the strength."

Donnie Yen Chi Tan yesterday attended the 2017 BWM Hong Kong Derby presss conference in Happy Valley. The derby ambassador for the fifth year in a row, Chi Tan lately has been busy with his new film CHASING THE DRAGON (JUI LUNG)'s post production work. Later he will work on reshoots. He said, "We will reshoot only for perfection. (Would Andy Lau Tak Wa need to be at the reshoot?) Let Mr. Lau rest for, we don't want to disturb him."

Earlier Chi Tan finished two Hollywood films and received decent results, which attracted many projects in development. Chi Tan hoped that he would take it slow. Because he wanted to make domestic Hong Kong productions, he also has been in negotiation with Hong Kong bosses and producing at the same time. Would he be interested in directing? Chi Tan said that earlier he directed and produced several films. Peter Chan Ho Sun told him to direct again, but directing required a lot of time. The 23rd Hong Kong Film Critic Society Awards presentation took place yesterday at the Hong Kong Film Archives. Best Actor Gordon Lam Ka Tung, Best Actress Zhou Dongyu personally accepted the awards. Ka Tung even brought his Mommy to witness his first performance award. After accepting the award he could not help but kiss Mommy; Zhou Dongyu graciously talked about former rumored boyfriend Shawn Yue Man Lok's new romance. She pretended to breathe a sigh of relief and behaved mischievously, she even wished everyone a Happy Women's Day.

The film critic society president Wong Chi Fai presented the six recommended films: MAD WORLD (YUT LIM MO MING), MERMAID (MEI YUN YU), SOUL MATE, WEEDS ON FIRE (DIM NG BO), SNUGGLE (BOON SUN) and SEE YOU TOMORROW (BAI DOH YUN). Then guest presenter Michael Hui Koon Man presented five major awards, Best Screenpaly to MAD WORLD's Chan Chor Hung, Best Director to MERMAID's Stephen Chow Sing Chi and MAD WORLD's Wong Chun, Best Actor to TRIVISA (SHU DAI CHIU FUNG)'s Lam Ka Tung, Best Actress to SOUL MATE's Zhou Dongyu and Best Film to TRIVISA.

Hui Koon Man sad, "This award is different from the ordinary award, it is from the people who know their stuff. Film critics are like food critics, they know their stuff the best. An award from people who know their stuff the best, even I haven't received one. I really want one. This time all the awards are very original and creative, the pride of Hong Kong. Lam Ka Tung is an outstanding actor, a rarity in Hong Kong. He can use body language and express to express himself. Miss Zhou's performance method is very successful, from the earthy flavor of UNDER THE HAWTHORN TREE to the trendiness of SOUL MATE this time."

First time Best Actor Ka Tung said that months ago when he learned that he won he already felt very uneasy, because he never had this type of experience. "This film has achieved a lot. This time is my first award, she has to be here." Speaking of only Jordan Chan Siu Chun did not receive any nomination, Ka Tung admitted, "I of course wanted him to be nominated, the entire film was three in one. Zhou Dongyu after the Golden Horse Award again won Best Actress with SOUL MATE. She said, "I am especially emotional to win this award because this is a professional award. Chin Siu Ho, Babyjohn Choi Hong Yik, "Malaysian Goddess" Lin Ming-Chen, Joyce Cheng Yun Yi, Bondy Chiu Hok Yi, Jim Chim Shui Man and executive producer Ha Yu two nights ago attended the film VAMPIRE CLEANUP DEPARTMENT (GAU GEUNG CHING DOH FU) premiere in Tsim Sha Tsui. The event arranged for many children to dress up as little vampires. Siu Ho joked that he was very jealous of Babyjohn for being able to romance Ming-Chen and that she indeed was a sexy goddess.

Chin Siu Ho said that he was very happy to be able to work with the goddess, but in the film they had no romantic scene. Siu Ho stated that he was envious of Babyjohn. "He ad the Goddess have romantic scenes, I only face vampires, while he faces a beauty. Ha Yu really brings nothing but trouble."

In her first debut Lin Ming-Chen played a female vampire. She at first thought that she was playing a happy ghost, but actually she was not cute at all. The Hong Kong Film Association yesterday announced its Lifetime Achievement Award recipient to be famous Cantonese diva, lead film actress and "Diva King" Fong Yim Fun. Fong Yim Fun started in Cantonese Opera at age 10 at the Kwok Sing Cantonese Opera Academy. At 16 she was promoted to lead roles at the "Chow Fung Nin" troupe. In the 40s she participated in the Tai Lung Fung Opera Troupe and teamed with Sun Ma Si Tsang. Her representative work included THE STORY OF TUNG SIU-YEN, THE DREAM ENCOUNTER BETWEEN EMPEROR WU OF HAN AND LADY WEI, THE TRAGIC STORY OF LIANG SHANBO AND ZHU YANGTAI, and THE NYMPH OF THE RIVER LO. Her creation of the "Fong Style", a rich and strong tone, full nasal sound and filled with emotions, became the unique singing style of the time, put listeners under its spell and was renowned all over the Ram City (Guangzhou). The Fong Yim Fun starred and performed song BELLE OF PENANG from the film PRETTY GIRL FROM KUALA LUMPUR (BUN SING YIM) was a hit all over Southeast Asia and remains so today. At the end of 1958 after making FOLLOW THE HUSBAND she got married and retired from film.

In addition, this year's Professional Spirit Award recipient will be the famous Hong Kong film poster illustrator Yuen Tai Yung. From 1975 to 1992 hundreds of Hong Kong film posters came from the hands of Yuen Tai Yung; his talents hands contributed to countless rich, exciting and entertaining Hong Kong films. The Andy Lau Tak Wa produced and starred SHOCK WAVE (CHAK DAN JUEN GA) asked his friend and fellow "Five Tigers" Felix Wong Yat Wa for help. Wong Yat Wa even played Wa Jai's superior while he was undercover as they both went after bank robbers. Earlier they appeared in Yuen Long for a late night car chase scene. Producer Wa Jai arrived at the set early on and personally supervised the car chase. Wong Yat Wa was in a police car in pursuit of the bank robbers. The vehicles raced in high speed on the industrial area streets, made fast turns and "drifted". No wonder Wong Yat Wa after shoot stated it was a lot of fun. After over 20 years without a car chase he even said that he was "addicted to shaking the tail". He said, "The second turn was amazing, it really was a lot of fun! I haven't tried to lose the tail in over a decade or two. When we did the third take, I really wanted to sit in the driver's seat." After the car chase scene, Wong Yat Wa, his role officially wrapped. After shaking hands and bidding farewell with Wang Ziyi, Ken Low Wai Kwong and others, he hug and shook hands with Lau Tak Wa. Then Lau Tak Wa said, "We will work together again soon." Wong Yat Wa said, "More fun next time." Then they took a photo together.

Wong Yat Wa revealed that he and Lau Tak Wa put together the collaboration at dinner. He said, "At the time he asked me if I would be interested in having a few days of fun in this movie, I said, 'Since you asked, no problem'. So I took part in this film." Speaking of working together after so many years, Wong Yat Wa said that it was like a "buddy reunion". He also said that it brought back a lot of of past collaboration memories. Congratulatons! Andy Lau Tak Wa in January went to shoot a commercial in Thailand, fell off a horse, broke his pelvis and had to take a medical charter back to Hong Kong for treatment. After almost two months Wa Ja yesterday was finally released from the hospital. Wa Jai yesterday around 8AM shared the good news on his official site to keep people from worrying about him. He also consoled everyone with "I will be able to stand up very soon".

Wa Jai's company yesterday issued a statement and revealed that Wa Jai's recovery has been rather smooth. He followed the doctor's orders and was able to be released from the hospital at any time. Then he would continue the next age of rehabilitation and treatment. At this time they thanked friends, family, fans and the media for their concern, the doctor in charge and the entire medical team for their professional treatment and passionate contributions.

Wa Jai also yesterday morning through his official site posted a blog entry to his family of fans.
